JOB TITLE: Mental Health Clinician   

PROGRAM:   Women's Treatment Residential Services 

FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT

JOB SUMMARY: The WTRS/MMAC Counselor provides program participants with clinical addictive disease services, including group training, group counseling, individual counseling, couples/family training/counseling sessions, and family education groups and activities, effectively utilizing evidence-based practices to meet the needs of each individual's individualized recovery plan.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Provides individual, group, and family training and counseling, including but not limited to psycho-education, didactic, process, and skills groups, utilizing evidence-based interventions and practices. Completes daily documentation of group sessions in EMR system, using BIRP format, in accordance with agency documentation policy. 
  • Develops and reviews individualized service plans with persons served to monitor individuals' progress toward individualized treatment goals.  
  • Completes assessments with persons served including but not limited to Behavior Health assessments, reassessments, bio-psycho-social assessments, drug and alcohol evaluations, and vocational skills assessments. 
  • Completes and submits deliverables including but not limited to court summaries, letters of progress, and billing reports in a timely manner, as directed. 
  • Attends and participates in case staffings and treatment team meetings as directed by direct supervisor. 
  • Works with interdisciplinary team in reviewing cases and developing individual service plans, including referrals to case management, advocacy groups, skills training groups, social rehabilitation and external treatment providers.
  • Provides clinical consultation to referral sources, community stakeholders, and members of individuals’ support system to help support individuals in their recovery process. 
  • Works cooperatively with the legal system to ensure coordination of services including court appearances when appropriate. 
  • Intervenes and manages acute crisis situations as needed.
  • Completes in person and online trainings to encourage professional development and meet agency, accreditation, and regulatory standards, as scheduled. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of necessary appropriate therapeutic boundaries for working with vulnerable populations.
  • Knowledge of addictive diseases and/or mental health disorders and their impact on an individual’s functioning.
  • Knowledge of multiple therapeutic modalities (CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, etc.) and evidence based interventions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiar with computer hardware and software including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), e-mail, fax, and scanning.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Ability to remain professional when dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail when completing multiple assignments.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out a variety of critical and time sensitive projects without detailed instructions.
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals to collect the necessary information.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive and confidential information obtained through the course of completing assignments.
  • Ability to be flexible in adapting to changes in priorities, assignments, and other interruptions, which may impact pre-established timelines and courses of action for completing projects and assignments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with management, staff, and internal and external stakeholders.

  • 100% of required trainings will be completed within specified time frames.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education – Bachelor’s Degree in Behavior Healthcare field
  • Licensure/Certification – Job related license (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, MFT, LMSW, LAPC, MAC, CACII, CADC, CAC)
  • Experience – Minimum one (1) year of human services, social work and /or clinical experience with addictive diseases population.
  • Other – Criminal background check clearance, official academic transcripts, valid driver’s license/ID, drug screen, TB test.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education – Master’s Degree in Behavior Health field
  • Experience – 3 years of human services, social work and/or clinical experience with addictive diseases population
